I knew that a front yard edible garden was taking a risk for my food to be eaten by someone other than me. But because of my not so great neighborhood I didn’t have a problem with it being treated as a semi-mini-community-garden. If peeps needed to pick a berry or some mint, well, then they needed it.
But what I didn’t expect was the squirrels and birds eating the strawberries before they could even turn red. Buttheads.
Plant more strawberries. Maybe I’ll get some next year. Eat the backyard strawberries when they ripen. Crack open some Thrive Foods freeze dried berries.
OK, these are like crackberries. Each one is the perfect sweet to tart ratio. And the kids like to munch on them whole because they melt in your mouth. But today I’m sharing a recipe for a fun Sunday morning breakfast that doesn’t require you to own a bake shop’s worth of ingredients.
My entire kitchen smelled like strawberries after cooking this.
And it was so lovely to pour it hot, right on top of the muffins.
