I’ve been using Walmart grocery pickup. (Walmart isn’t paying me for this at all) Walmart isn’t ideal for a chick who isn’t into big corporations and consumerism. In fact, I rarely went to Walmart before the pick up feature was offered. The other more local chains don’t offer grocery pick up…..yet. It’s no surprise to those close to me that I’ve developed a hatred for grocery shopping. Dragging my kids to the store after work is like putting “Have An Adult Temper Tantrum” at the top of my to-do list. Two ADHD kids at the end of the day is not something I want to share with the public and to be judged as the top category in my Mom of the Year Contest. And on the weekends the stores are too full for this crowd-hating lady.
So, I’ve found alternatives like: becoming a consultant for Thrive Life Foods, growing backyard groceries, and store pick up.
The Walmart website let’s me add items as I remember them and saves my cart for me. So when it’s pay day I can pick my reservation time and check out. This week my emphasis was on meat. I googled “best cuts for slow cookers” and added almost everything to my cart. One of those was a chuck roast because, damn I love me some pot roast.
Have you ever tried the 3-envelope pot roast recipe? It’s basically some broth and meat with an envelope of dry ranch dressing, dry Italian dressing, and brown gravy. It’s super tasty. Has a ton of preservatives and salty goodness. My house smells amazing when I get in from work and that shit’s been cooking all day. But by all that is holy that stuff is not good for you, or me. Since this journey has began I’ve been looking to keep that simplicity of the 3-envelope recipe but with things that are real, whole foods. So I did some research, found inspiration, tweaked it to what I had in the house and I bring you the Simple, Almost Paleo, Pot Roast recipe. If you’re 100% paleo, turn away now. If you’re 80%, I think you’ll dig it.
